Chelan PUD pays cash back to Chelan County electric customers who upgrade to high efficiency heating. A heat pump uses roughly 40 to 55 percent less energy per year than electric resistance heat, so the savings keep going long after the check arrives.
The rebate you qualify for depends on how your home is heated right now, so the fastest way to find out is to call us. We look at your existing system, tell you which rebate applies, and handle the filing.
These rebates come from Chelan PUD and apply to homes in Chelan County. If you are in East Wenatchee, Quincy or elsewhere in Douglas or Grant County, call us and we will tell you what your own utility offers.

Income-qualified rebates
Chelan PUD is adding higher rebate amounts for income-qualified customers starting in fall 2026. Those amounts are $4,300 for a ducted heat pump conversion, $2,100 for a ductless single family conversion, and $2,700 for a ductless manufactured home conversion. Requirements, in plain English
- You need to be a Chelan PUD electric customer with a home in Chelan County.
- Eligibility is based on your current permanently installed heating type and how much electric heat you used last winter.
- Conditioned living space only. Garages and other unheated areas do not count.
- The work has to be done by a licensed, certified HVAC contractor. That is us.
- New equipment must be rated at least 7.5 HSPF2 and 14.3 SEER2.
- Ducted heat pump conversions require PUD pre-authorization BEFORE installation. We handle this, but it is why you should call before you buy anything.
- One rebate per home. Homes over 4,500 heated square feet or with two separate duct systems may claim up to two ducted rebates.
- The application has to be submitted by the contractor within one year of the job being finished.
What does not qualify
- Homes that already have a heat pump, applying for a ductless rebate.
- Adding another head or a second ductless system where one already exists.
- Homes that primarily used a wood burning fireplace or plug-in space heaters for heat.
- Removing a gas furnace to convert to electric. Federal law prohibits utilities from paying for fuel switching.
- Vacation homes may not qualify.

How much is the Chelan PUD heat pump rebate?
Up to $3,300 when a home with an electric forced air furnace converts to a ducted heat pump. Homes on electric baseboard or wall heaters qualify for ductless mini-split rebates instead: $1,600 for a single family home and $2,000 for a manufactured home. A heat pump water heater replacing a standard electric water heater earns $1,300.
